Welcome to Mutley's Hangar Around the World Challenge official website. Here you will be able to keep up with the current location of the challenge, mail the controller, find resources and catch up with previous legs. The challenge has received popular support from the flight sim community and deserves it's own presence on the web. The controller is Joe (Mutley) Lawford who is very capably backed up by deputy controllers Dave (dgor) Gorman and John Allard. Aims The main aim of the challenge is to fly around the world from airport (heliport/seaport) to airport (heliport/seaport) carrying the ATWC baton to the next location, eventually returning to Britain and the starting location of EGHI Southampton International Airport. Time is not of the essence so it is not a direct route. We aim to visit as many interesting locations as possible both real world and related to flight sim (such as Meigs field no longer an airport but notable as the first default MSFS airport) without letting the challenge becoming too drawn out. The challenge is open to anyone who is a member of the Mutley's Hangar forum. Membership of the forum is free and once a member you will be encouraged to join in all our interactive adventures, screenshot competitions and friendly banter. In order to join in the challenge you must have access to any version Microsoft Flight Simulator, be able to take screenshots, and store the screenshots for the foreseeable future or at least for the life off the challenge and beyond (See resource page for links to free screenshot capture programs and image storage websites) Most of all we want the challenge to be a fun event, and so far it has been just that. We have had all sorts of challenges with flight sectors long and short using GA, commercial airliners and dramatic SAR rescues in helicopters.
Below you will see a
NOTAM in our case this means "Notice board To Air Men" Please keep
checking back here as it will contain messages from the controllers to
the members. This could be urgent requests for pilots or just
