Introduction and Acknowledgements
Hey, Sparky, what’s the matter? You say you’re an
aviation buff…or a pilot wannabe…or an accomplished
flight sim wizard…or (gasp) a Just Flight – Cargo Pilot
® addict?
You say
there’s just not enough aviation in your life….you stare
at the sky when you hear propellers…or you get grumpy
when your wife objects to a five mile detour so you can
go by the airport on the way home – and you’re just out
walking the dog? Well buck up, Sparky, help is on the
way! This may just have you on the edge of your seat!...
...
You may sense, as you read this, my love of flying and
all things associated with it.
Some of
the inspiration for this story stems from my avid use of
the popular Flight-sim add-on, Just Flight’s ® Cargo
Pilot. To say I am hooked is possibly to understate it.
My
avocation for Cargo Pilot lead me to one of the stars of
the story, the Fairchild C-123 K Provider, a freeware
offering from Vladimir Zhyhulskiy, Kiev, Ukraine. I’ve
used the C-123 extensively in my Cargo Pilot flying and
have come to appreciate it. If you wish to fly it for

In this,
my first attempt at writing fiction, I must take the
opportunity to express my sincere thanks to several
people and commercial entities that have been
instrumental in this endeavor…
…to my
wife, Pam, who bore patiently with me, seeing only the
back of my head as I pecked away at the keyboard, and
who patiently read what was offered until her eyes
glazed over.
…to the
world-famous Mutley, owner and operator of the best and
friendliest flight-sim site on the web, Mutley’s Hangar.
Without his initial suggestion that I write something
for the site and his subsequent encouragement,
suggestions, hand-holding and hard work in packaging it
for public viewing, this story would never have seen the
light of day on these electronic pages, nor even have
escaped my finger tips.

Flight ®, a top notch software house, publisher of Cargo
Pilot ® and of all manner of other quality flight
simulation related software. It’s all good, but in my
estimation they hit the ball out of the park with CP.

Microsoft ®, whose flight simulation franchise, now in
its 10th (!!!) major release, has been a foundation for
entertainment, hobbies and even careers for thousands
world wide. It just keeps getting better and better.
